You just plug them into your computer and turn them on to allow other users to see you in real time over the Internet. If you wish to have fun with your webcam, then you should definitely try CamMask. It provides numerous special effects filters, animations and other elements, which can be applied on your webcam's feed instantly, with only one click. The application comes with a few advanced features as well, which allow you to accessorize your face or change it entirely. CamMask is free to try, with some minor limitations. It works on Windows XP, Vista, Win 7 and Win 8 and it can be installed in less than a minute. The minimum hardware requirements should not be a challenge for any modern day computer. With a 2 GHz Processor or better and at least 512 MB of RAM, you can run the application without any difficulties. The application's interface is designed to be easy to control, even by the most inexperienced user. It displays a preview of the webcam's feed and you can start or stop broadcasting with a single click. Additionally, the application allows you to record or take snapshots. You can browse through various effects categories on the same window. The effects themselves are displayed as thumbnails, beneath the feed's preview and you only need to select one in order to apply it. Applied effects are displayed in a different area of the interface and you can enable and disable them or remove them without any effort. CamMask comes with face detection capabilities as well, which make it possible to apply advanced effects, like face accessories or even face substitution effects. Once you apply a special effect, your friends will see it right away, regardless of your preferred chat application. Besides live webcam feeds, the application can broadcast from other sources as well. You can define up to six broadcast sources, on a separate window, which can be videos from local folders, still images or even live streams of your desktop. Streaming videos or images can be managed on the same user interface and you can choose to play them once, shuffled or on a loop. Pros: The application provides a large number of special effects for your webcam. You can apply one or more effects instantly and disable or remove them just as fast. CamMask works as a virtual webcam as well, which can broadcast videos, images or live streams of your desktop. Cons: A nag screen will show up each time you run the trial version.
